SCORE Mentoring Office to Open in East Aurora

CHAMBER INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING SCORE TO SOUTHSIDE COMMERCE CENTER

The Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce (GEACC), recognizing a local need for business assistance education, has partnered with SCORE and the Southside Commerce Center (SCC) to bring a SCORE counseling center to the Village of East Aurora.

On Tuesday, January 16th, at 4:00pm SCORE’s WNY Chapter volunteer organization will be holding an open house to show off its new office in the Southside Commerce Center at 300 Gleed Ave.

The public is invited to join in on the grand opening and a brief presentation in the SCC auditorium with a tour of the new SCORE office. Refreshments will be provided.

SCORE’s mission is to foster vibrant, small business communities through mentoring and education. BuffaloNiagara.SCORE.org is responsible for providing its services in the 8 counties of WNY with the East Aurora location being the thirteenth satellite office within those counties.

SCORE’s volunteers consist of experienced business owners and managers who donate their time and expertise to help new businesses form or help experienced small businesses to grow.

Nationally, SCORE has over 300 Chapters and 11,000 volunteers. Because of these dedicated volunteers all the mentoring services are free and most of the workshops are either free or are very modestly priced.

In addition to the personal assistance that the volunteers provide, SCORE has a wealth of software tools that a client can access.

Jim Cornell, owner of the SCC, along with the GEACC, is a co-sponsor of the SCORE Office. In addition to providing the office space the SCC will also help furnish the office for SCORE.

As a local developer Mr. Cornell’s most visible project is the Larkin Center of Commerce of which he is one of the co-owners as well as the Managing Partner.

Mentoring opportunities will begin on January 18th. If you would like to schedule a free mentoring session or join SCORE’s volunteer team, visit SCORE’s web-site at BuffaloNiagara.score.org or contact the Chamber office at 652-8444 or eanycc@verizon.net.
